Almeida Military History Museum, a journey through time.
Located inside the Bastion of St. John of God, the Casemates or Old Barracks, as they were also called due to the lack of barracks to house Infantry, now house the Almeida Military History Museum. The museum’s history unfolds across seven rooms, recounting the site’s history from “The Origins” to the First World War. From September 2009 to December 2019, the museum received 150,000 visitors! Guided tours are provided by a technician. Approximate duration: 45 minutes.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from Opening hours: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM (last entry) and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (last entry). Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (last entry) and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (last entry). Closed on Mondays and the following holidays: January 1st, November 1st, and December 24th and 25th.
